Inmagic/Access and linking images - technical



Apologies for the techie nature of this post.

Not to belabor this point, but a friend who had actually linked his images to
his Inmagic system had them running off of a CD, if I remember correctly.  The
files were only linked via a normal data path (e.g., the hard drive with the
Texbase was Drive C, the photo files on the CD-Rom drive or Tower, Drive D;
calling the DB record on Drive C & linking to the photo read the photo off Drive
D), so the storage issues were less problematic.  All the photos were running
off the CD, leaving the computer's drive uncluttered.

It would still be a problem if you wanted to load the database to an inter/intra
net, because I'm not certain you can run a CD Tower connected to the net, but
for local access it would be just as easy, and probably less cumbersome.
