OTTAWA (Reuters) - The Canadian government Thursday dismissed fears that
private companies and others would be able to access a vast federal database
containing up to 2,000 pieces of information on every Canadian citizen.
Human Resources Minister Jane Stewart -- already mired in a scandal over the
mismanagement of multibillion dollar job programs -- fended off a barrage of
questions in parliament from concerned opposition members.

Hillary Rodham Clinton took a day off from campaigning but got slammed by a
federal judge's ruling that she must turn over her phone records in a
lawsuit over alleged misuse of FBI files.
Eight former White House officials - including Clinton ex-chief of staff
Maggie Williams - were also told to hand over their phone logs by U.S.
District Court Judge Royce Lamberth.

It's a little later than originally planned, but today the Huntsville Police
Department's Records Division began moving its files to the Municipal
Justice and Public Safety Center on Wheeler Avenue.
Records Division staff members during the last week of April started packing
650 boxes of files dating back to the 1940s, gearing up for a move
originally scheduled for May 4. The move was delayed until today, said
Police Chief Compton Owens, because of technical glitches in the new city
jail.

The last time Devota Clark came out of the hospital, she was too weak to
take care of herself, so she decided to recuperate at her grandchildren's
home.
While she was there, the 71-year-old woman became the victim of an audacious
- and increasingly common - urban crime.
Somebody stole her house.
