Vice President Gore's top information expert told White House computer
specialists in 1993 to "get lost" when they offered to back up Gore's
electronic records on tape so they could be kept for "potential legal
proceedings," a White House aide said yesterday in a sworn statement.

White House employee claims Gore's office chose to lose e-mail
http://www.foxnews.com/elections/062000/gore_whemails.sml

NEW YORK - A current White House employee has come forward alleging Vice
President Al Gore's office knew there were problems with the White House
e-mail system but chose not to do anything.
Congress has been investigating why the White House failed to archive and
review thousands of e-mails to determine if they should have been turned
over under subpoena to investigators probing everything from fund-raising to
Whitewater and Monica Lewinsky.
With Gore running for the presidency, the focus has shifted recently to the
e-mail system in the vice president's office.

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The walls really do talk here, at the National Frontier
Trails Center.
Push a button, and recorded excerpts of trail diaries and letters play. And
painted along the walls, visitors can see other messages from the past -
also excerpts from trail writings.

With a touch of a computer key, Salt Lake County Recorder Nancy Workman
completed Utah's first electronic transmission of a real-estate document.
The new system she unveiled Tuesday decreases from days to seconds the time
it takes to publicly record property transactions.

by Lois M. Collins
In a move that will likely revolutionize real-estate transactions, Salt Lake
County Recorder Nancy Workman on Tuesday performed the first-ever electronic
recording of a document. And that promises to be just the beginning.
"It will revamp how the real estate industry works," Workman said. "Instead
of going to a title company, you can do it anywhere in the world."

Now playing at NDSU, the Fargodome: High Water
http://www.gfherald.com/news/docs00/0621/1B128A.htm

by Mikkel Pates
A key piece to early federal emergency help was the damage mounting at North
Dakota State University and its neighbor, the Fargodome.
As flood sewer lift stations lost power, water piled up in the streets and
more than 8 feet deep rushed into the dome. Water came in overland through
large below-surface loading dock doors on the northwest corner of the
building.

Revisions could doom right-to-know bill
http://www.bergen.com/region/doombill200006212.htm

by John Cichowski
A state Senate bill that would open access to thousands of government
records appeared doomed Tuesday over last-minute revisions requiring courts
to protect personal privacy and "the legitimate interests of . . .
government" over the public's right to know.
The measure's chief backer, the New Jersey Press Association, is considering
withdrawing its support after reviewing several unexpected changes suggested
by Senate legal advisers to preserve lawmakers' current prerogatives.
