The History of Medicine Division (HMD), National Library of Medicine, Bethesda, Maryland, announces a vacancy for Senior Archivist for Digital Projects. This is a new, permanent U.S. federal civil service position, in the technical information specialist classification (series 1412).  This position is being recruited at the GS-12 level, with salary range starting at $51,204. The recruitment is open through July 18, 2000.  

The primary duties are to serve as manager for HMD's Digital Manuscripts Program, which is digitizing the personal papers of prominent biomedical scientists and mounting them on the World Wide Web.  The program currently has a staff of 6 full-time and 4 part-time archivists, historians, and students.  The site is found at www.profiles.nlm.nih.gov.
