Re: The Patriot & movies in general



Don't you think that the portrayal of any profession in the movies is
slightly off?? Why do we expect the movies to reflect  history,
accurately? Is that it's essence? I thought, that it's modis operandi is
more like a novel, and it should tell a story!!?!!

 My husband, who is a lawyer, always laughs when they portray courtroom
scenes as exciting and tense and dramatic.  He says, for the most part,
that a true courtroom scene would put everyone to sleep....all talk talk
talk. And that the judges are never like the movies....and the lawyers
are never like the movies....

If eras in American history are being depicted in the movies, at least
younger people could/might be interested in studying that era. That's
how I got interested, by reading historical fiction.
