Re: graduate schools...

Washington State University has a good Public History program. I felt they gave
me good training for a variety of public history options, because the two
professors have different areas of expertise. Orlan Svingen, the program's
director, specializes in American Indian - white relations, and is well versed
in litigation research, and cultural resource management issues relating to
American Indians. Janice Rutherford is an archetectural historian, and has a
lot of experience with historic preservation. Neither professor is an
archivist, but the Manuscripts Archives & Special Collections staff at WSU has
done good work with persons in the public history program who have done
internships there.

Of course, for archives and records management training, I enthusiastically
recommend Western Washington University.

Of course, I'm rather biased - Archives & Records Management MA from WWU in
1992, and Ph.D. from WSU in 1999.
