Re: Logging vs shotlisting video tapes



The most important distinction between a log and shot list is "consecutive",
as Paul stated.  A log is a shot-by-shot, consecutive list of a completed
tape or of raw footage.
A shot list on the other hand is a list of the shots planned for
shooting or a list of the kinds of shots from the footage, discrete from the
consecutive order.
If you logged your material in a database and then
sorted by types of shots (which could be according to any of dozens of
categories: CU/LS/ECU, interior, exterior, so-and-so, day one/day two,
location) you would then have a shot list.
