Re: thesis title pages
Beth - most of the theses/dissertations in our collection do NOT list
degrees under the author's name, or anywhere else. The only example that I
saw (pulling 15 or so off the shelves at random) was on a PhD dissertation
where the author put "Joe Jones, B.S., M.S." on a single line. That said,
I must also add that, on my University of Colorado M.S. thesis, I DID put
under my name "B.S., alma mater, year". I'm sure I was following
convention at the time, because my husband did the same on his. Don't know
if this was university-wide or departmental policy only.

As archivist, I am sometimes asked questions regarding thesis/dissertation
standards.
Our graduate department requires thesis writers to list their undergraduate
degree on the title page, under the author's name. Recently, two of our
faculty members wanted to know about listing multiple degrees for those
students who already have degrees beyond the Bachelor's degree. Should all
degrees be listed?
One institution I contacted doesn't list these degrees on their title page
but includes this information in the form of a vita at the very end.
What are other institutions doing? Should all degrees be listed or just
the latest degree? What order?
Thanks in advance for your help!
