El Lissitzsky website

A New Digital Library Resource from the Getty Research Institute :

?Monuments of the Future? : Designs by El Lissitzky

The Getty Research Institute has mounted a Web site devoted to the life
and work of the Russian artist El Lissitzky (1890-1941), one of the
great avant-garde figures of the 20th century. Based on collections
held at the Getty Research Library, ?Monuments of the Future : Designs
by El Lissitzky? (www.getty.edu/gri/digital/lissitzky) contains images
of Lissitzky?s work in typography, book design, exhibition design, and
photography.

The site features a chronology of El Lissitzky?s life, more than 175
images (available both as thumbnails and JPEGs), and a scrolling image
of a foldout montage published in an exhibition catalogue of 1928. The
site also includes links to related Research Institute holdings and
external resources. The chronology and text of the site, which was
curated by Getty Research Institute Collections Curator Nancy Perloff,
are available for downloading and printing as PDF files.

The site is available in both the common HTML format, and in an enhanced
Flash version that requires a plug-in. ?Monuments of the Future: Designs
by El Lissitzky? can be found at: www.getty.edu/gri/digital/lissitzky.
