The Library of Virginia is seeking an Electronic Records Coordinator in the
Records Management and Imaging Services Division to oversee development and
on-going management of the electronic records program for the Commonwealth.
This new highly technical position will develop, monitor, and evaluate the
goals, policies, and procedures for managing the retention and disposition
of electronic records in all state agencies and localities by coordinating
the program direction with offices of Secretary of Technology, Department of
Technology Planning, Department of Information Technology, and various units
of the Library of Virginia.  Works closely with vendors to evaluate
selection of products and services for electronic record keeping; consults
with state and local officials concerning establishment and maintenance of
their electronic records; develops and presents workshops for the state;
attends conferences and other educational seminars and monitors national
industry trends and benchmarks other organization's practices. Oversees the
development and on-going management of guidance documents through the
regulatory process.
A Master's degree in information science, political science, history, public
administration, or related field is preferred. Formal training in archival,
records management, and electronic records/imaging administration is also
preferred. A combination of training and equivalent progressive experience
in information systems may substitute.  Knowledge of information systems,
software programs including database management, electronic record-keeping
and/or records management; ability to communicate and negotiate effectively
with public officials, professional organizations, etc.  Knowledge of state
and local government organizations and operations is preferred.  One or more
of the following certifications is preferred: Certified Records Manager
(CRM), Master of Imaging Technology (MIT), or Certified Document Imaging
Architect (CDIA).  This position reports directly to the State Records
Administrator and the annual salary is negotiable, depending on experience
and credentials, ranging in the $40's or $50's.
