Re: Images of Polka Music

The Polka Hall of Fame on South Kedzie in Chicago has been up for sale for
some time now, and no one seems sure of what's to happen with the materials
collected there. The competing Polka Hall of Fame in Cleveland is still
alive, though. (There was quite a controversy over its establishment. I'm a
native Chicagoan, and a south sider at that, so for me the idea of a polka
museum in Cleveland is sacrilegious. Chicago Style polka rules, in my book.)

I also suggest Steve Litwin, all-around polka expert who edits the polka
section of the monthly Polish American Journal (polamjourn@aol.com;
http://www.polamjournal.com). The website has great polka links, too.

Another excellent book on polka, loaded with photos, is Polka Happiness, by
Charles and Angeliki Keil, with photos by Dick Blau of the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee. It was published in 1992 by Temple UP, and a second
edition is in the works.

Have fun,
