When this first started coming up a couple of years ago, I asked
the computer gurus downstairs and they nixed it, saying our email
system wouldn't handle the large files. So that was an easy out for
me; it might have changed since but I figured "don't ask, don't tell"
and still tell people the same thing. If someone insists on this, of
course, or is in a big hurry and is willing to pay the fees, what we
do is this: scan the image and post it on our web page under the
appropriate collection number, then, after receiving payment or
assurance of payment, letting the patron know how to find the file
and then download it. That's worked well for rush jobs out of the
country.

And I don't like giving people negatives either.
