Re: Great Job Opportunity???

A good example of what Dean is talking about is the John Wesley
Powell Museum of River Running History in Green River, Utah. The
land was bought, the building built, and the original collection
developed on what are called here Community Impact Funds, a
portion of oil and mineral revenues that the state set aside for
communities that might be, well, impacted by the development. All
that was done and then, so sorry, no more money. I don't know all
the ins and outs of the thing but I do know they now have no money
to expand the exhibits, no money for a curatorial staff, no budget for
anything. The whole thing is run by the town of Green River, barely
a gas stop on I-70 in the middle of nowhere. They do a brave job
but you can tell the place needs real funding and a permanent
budget.
