Acquisitions received electronically
Dear all,
We are receiving more and more acquisitions in electronic format via
e-mail. Still only a small quantity but increasing in number
nonetheless. These are items whose original format was hard (eg a
traditionally created photo) or whose original use was in hard form
(eg a script).
I'd be interested to know if others are experiencing this and the
processes you use for managing such material. What do you regard as
your original or preservation copy - the electronic data or the hard
copy you produce? What data do you record in your database about its
method of acquisition? How do you 'prove' the authenticity of
something arriving via email - or is this no different to other forms
of delivery?
Regards, Sue
