Re: Access to the Stacks
We have this all the time. My explanation is usually that our
materials are fragile, rare, and date back to as early as the
fourteenth century. For that reason and especially preserva-
tion, they are in a closed stack, with temperature and humidity
control. Sometimes if they show more interest (expressions
like "Cool!"), I will give a short impromptu tour. But usually
most of them (especially in this hot and high humidity Florida
climate) readily understand our preservation iniative.
