Re: Panoramic photos

Oh, well, while we're off topic...

A panoramic camera is technically one where the lens moves and the film
plane is parallel to the subject. As a practical matter, the film plane is
usually curved, but the general orientation of the film is parallel to the
subject plane.

A 360 degree camera is properly called a "Circuit" camera (there was even a
brand called "Cirkut"), where the film is oriented in a large circle,
emulsion in, and is exposed via a rotating lens and mirror system.
Panoramic cameras are great fun to play with, and it is possible to find
Kodax 616 and (rarer) 116 panorams at reasonable prices today--and a lot
less than "real" modern wide-field so-called "panoramic" medium format
cameras. Many professional photographers still make a buck with panoram and
circuit cameras.
