The following full time permanent position is open at Little Big Horn
College in Montana.  Closing date:  October 16 at 5 p.m.


Job Title:            Archivist

Qualifications:

 Education- Minimum: BA/BS Degree.   Preferred: In Native American
Studies, Anthropology, history or a related field.

 Demonstrated Abilities:

 A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

1.            Understanding of the Crow Community.

2.            Knowledge of archival processes.

3.            Communication Skills, both oral and written and ability to
communicate in a concise, timely, and accurate manner.

4.         Ability to supervise employees and work together as a team.

5.            Knowledge of Computers and applications.

6.            Knowledge of Public speaking.

7.            Knowledge of Audio/Visual Equipment.

8.            Knowledge of Crow History, Language and Culture.

9.         History of self directed work and an ability to set clear goals
and achieve those goals.

10.            Knowledge of Grants management.

11.       Ability to effectively deal with persons of diverse backgrounds.

12.            Research Skills.

13.       Ability to deal effectively with issues of cultural sensitivity
and culturally sensitive information and issues.

14.       Strong organizational skills

15.       Strong attention to detail.



 Experience:

 Two years of experience in Archival work, Library Science or Museums
Preferred.  Two years of Supervisory experience in organizations, preferred.

 Job Duties:

 1.            Arrange archival materials in all formats into order for use.

2.            Describe collections in all formats for research access.

3.            Perform basic preservation on manuscripts collections.

4.            Appraise material and its value to the general public.

5.            Participate in archival workshops, training and professional
development.

6.         Assist patrons in research.

7.         Train and supervise co-workers in archival work.

8.         Assist in reference information research for patrons.

9.            Perform general clerical duties in processing and filing
materials.

10.       Collect other materials for future archival usage.

11.       Writing and managing grant projects.

12.            Developing policies and procedures.

13.       Give guidance in building archives.

14.            Teaching courses related to archival work.

15.            Actively documenting and recording community events and
oral history.

16.            Developing direction for the archives.

17.            Performing outreach and public relations tasks.

18.       Provide business and clerical functions for the archives.

19.       Other duties as assigned.
