Re: Inergen Fire Suppression systems

Hi Elizabeth:

We looked into Inergen for a roughly 800 SF archival storage area. We
decided against it as we were uncertain how the chemicals in the system
would interact with the photographic materials stored in the area. We ended
up going with a dry-pipe, preaction system (the space is underground). Water
is still the preferred substance for fire suppression. NEDCC (Northeast
Document Conservation Center) has some very useful guidelines describing the
pros and cons of various fire suppression systems--they recommend water.
