Re: Microfilming supplements



A few thoughts:

1) Since the primary use of microfilm is usually for the information it
contains, you want to present the papers on microfilm in the way that will
best convey that information.  In this case, it seems necessary to separate
the supplement from the paper in order for a reader to understand the
information.

2) Since the original readers of the paper would have seen the supplement
first, I think I would put the supplement before the rest of the issue.  If
the publisher had considered it less important, s/he would have stuffed it
_inside_ the regular issue.  Since their format made it the lead story, I
would follow their example.

3) It would be easy enough to make up a microfilm target that could be used
before every commencement issue to explain how the two pieces go together.
