Trying to determine value of an archival collection
I am doing a project in which the contents of an archival collection-the research of one person over the last 50 years-is to be microfilmed. The contents of the collection are to be shipped to the place to be filmed and they want a "value" in order to insure the collection. Suggestions on how to come up with a number would be appreciated. The suggestion I have gotten from some friends is to do it on replacement value. Since many of the papers are from Russian, Czech and other hard to get to archives-these are copies of existing documents-this figure could be quite high. Any thoughts on this? Thanks much., Joan
