I am researching in order to preserve some of the
history of the region and an event that took place in Eastern Kentucky during
the years 1909 and 1910. John C.C. Mayo organized a train to bring bankers into
the region of Johnson, Floyd and Pike Counties to invest in the Millers Creek
and Elk Horn coal seams. On one trip they camed four days. Supposedly Robert
Garrett of Robert Garrett and Son banking house was on the trip. I, however
believe representing the banking house was a Mr.J.C. Finnigan, the treasury. I
am trying to find out if Mr. Garrett was on either trip. The town of Garrett,
Ky was laterer named for Mr. Garrett.
Thanks very much for your time and help
