I've done the web search thing and with little to no luck....my area is pharmaceuticals, specifically cardiovascular and central nervous system. Centering on disease states and research states. Looking at these results as with the ones I've done, I come up with biology and plant sciences mostly.
thx

"how does one go about finding a taxonomist?"
Advertise?
Seriously a quick search of the web turns up the following
http://www.sysbot.org/
http://www.eti.uva.nl/Database/frame_WTD.html
http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/Vines/8695/
http://biodiversity.bio.uno.edu/delta/
http://www.caida.org/tools/taxonomy/
Define the duties and responsibilities that the taxonomist would perform in your organization. then contact organizations that produce/train/educate taxonomist, advertise in broadly distributed newspapers, find a listserv, etc.
