Re: Outcomes Assessment



Here's one pass at the problem. KPIs are Key Performance Indicators, the
outcomes part. If I remember correctly, the six goals were
established by the university. There are a number of significant problems
with this approach, but, hey, if that's what they ask for....

Special Collections Action Plan
April 29, 1998
Goals/Objectives:
1. To enhance undergraduate education
Provide undergraduates access to unique, primary resources that support
their educational needs
KPI: Number of books and manuscripts added to collection.
KPI: Number of users in Special Collections
2. To enhance the development of a research university with excellent,
selected graduate programs
Support graduate programs in history, geology, forestry, mining, and other
fields through the collection and preservation of primary sources
important for research in those fields.
KPI: Number of books and manuscripts added to collection.
KPI: Number of users in Special Collections.
3. To enhance the outreach service mission
Increase access to our collections through the World Wide Web.
KPI: Number of "hits" on Special Collections web page.
KPI: Number of collection inventories added to World Wide Web site.
Provide increased remote access to our extensive historical photograph
collection.
KPI: Apply for grant funds to link photo database to World Wide Web.
KPI: Number of photo reproductions ordered.
4. To enhance the availability and use of technology
To use technology to enhance the preservation and access of our unique
holdings.
KPI: Apply for grant funds to link photo database to World Wide Web.
5. To enhance diversity in curriculum, faculty, staff, and students
To collect materials on Idaho and its place in the region that demonstrate
the state's diversity.
KPI: Number of books and manuscripts added to collection.
6. To enhance productivity and increase accountability
A clear focus on goals will enhance productivity in the department.
KPI: Ongoing assessment of productivity in the department.
