Re: Advice needed - book publication



I spoke with our photo archivist here at the YIVO Institute re your
relationship with the book publisher.

Here, we do not lend out the photos to the publisher. They come to us to
view them, select from photocopies what they want and then  WE do the
reproduction, in the form that they wish. They are then sent by  UPS/Fedex
or by courrier to the book people.

We do not give them exclusive use. The photos are with us for use by other
people. The book people get one-time usage rights.
Also its up to the book people to chase down the photographers'  heirs for
the rights.
