Position Announcement



Assistant Archivist, Arrangement and Description, American Heritage Center,
University of Wyoming.  Faculty Position.

Reporting to the head of Arrangement and Description, the Assistant
Archivist will be responsible for processing collections, including
organization, conservation, and production of finding aids using Microsoft
Word. The Assistant Archivist will also design exhibits and will perform
outreach by giving public programs and by writing articles and
announcements. Additional duties will include teaching, supervision of
junior staff and students, and assisting in coordination of the duties of
the department. The Assistant Archivist will also perform shifts on the
reference desk and will be responsible for other miscellaneous duties as
assigned.

Qualifications: Master of Arts in History, Archival Studies, American
Studies, Public History, Master of Library Science, or an acceptable
equivalent combination of education and experience.  Professional archival
training and one year of professional experience in an archival setting,
including processing, reference, or cataloging required. Knowledge of
Western history preferred.  Salary range: $28,000 -$32,000, plus full
benefit package.  Review of applications will begin April 1, 2001.
