Re: Certification

Good point!
But I have also observed individuals with no formal training or related degree who work with historical collections labeling themselves "Archivist" without a second thought. When allowed to continue, this compromises the importance of our profession and our work as professional archivists.   This may not be our biggest problem, but in terms of the public's impression of archivists is it any wonder that things aren't always clear?

However, I have seen certified archivists, etc, and I have to wonder how they passed the exam and what the exam actually means in terms of ability and professionalism.  I think he has a right to question whether the exam is all it's cracked up to be.
