Summary of responses about town records

Thanks to all those who responded to my question regarding finding aids to town government records.
Below are some of the sites and contacts recommended by respondents. I particularly found the Town of Hempstead website to be very useful.

Town of Hempstead, Archives:  contact Daniel M. Fisher, Town Clerk.  This one has particularly good administrative histories.  It appears to be available on line at:  http://www.townofhempstead.org/home/tohtc/tcarchiv.htm

Town of Huntington, Town Clerk's Records Center and Archives:  contact Antonia Mattheou, the Town Archivist.  631 351-3271, or e-mail the town clerk, Jo-Ann Raia at clerk@town.huntington.ny.us

Municipal Archives-Windsor Public Library.  This document is RAD-compliant (Cdn
"Rules for Archival Description").  You should be able to access it at www.city.windsor.on.ca/wpl/libraries/archives, and will need Adobe Reader
to examine the guide.

If you have trouble linking I started at the Mary Washington College site (mwc.edu) then to the Historic Preservation department and clicked on Fred. resources.
