The Research Library of the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society has the records of Hanna Furnace, which produced specialty iron for steel mills, the papers of Bethlehem Steel engineer Howard P. DeVoe, and photograph collections created by Bethlehem Steel, Republic Steel, and Simonds Saw and Steel. It also has the newsletters published by USWA District 4 between 1947-59.

Telephone reference assistance is available Wednesday-Saturday, 10:00 AM-5:00 PM, by calling 873-9644, ext. 306. BECHS is located at 25 Nottingham Court, Buffalo, NY 14216. Collection descriptions are not yet available on BECHS's Web site (http://intotem.buffnet.net/bechs/Welcome.html), but can be accessed via OCLC or the Historic Documents Inventory catalog maintained by the New York State Archives (http://nysl.nysed.gov).

The Archives/Library of the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor has some records from Republic Steel, Warren Consolidated, and Youngstown Sheet & Tube. It also has several photograph collections documenting steel production in the area, oral history interviews with steel workers and managers, and the records of USWA District 27, Subdistrict 26.
