I guess it's a matter of perspective. Archivists are well aware that e-mail and other forms of electronic records can be and are being stored short-term. But storing "a copy of everything on the system. . . for several years" does not equate to *preserving* the information for archival needs, i.e. "permanently" (or for many, many, many, many years to come).
