Nominations Sought: SAA Description Section election in DC, 8/31/01

Greetings archival colleagues;

This is primarily addressed to members of the SAA's Description Section, but if anyone else has any good ideas for nominees, I'd be happy to hear those as well!

The Description Section is seeking nominees to run for Vice-chair/Chair-elect for 2001/2002. The election will be held at the Description Section meeting in Washington on 8/31/2001, and the successful candidate will serve as follows:
* Vice-chair/Chair-elect from the Washington meeting in 2001 through the Birmingham meeting in 2002.
* Chair from the Birmingham meeting in 2002 through the Los Angeles meeting in 2003.

The Vice-chair/Chair-elect for the Description Section is responsible for organizing the Finding Aid Fair at the annual meeting along with other duties, while the Chair is responsible for planning and running the Description Section meeting at the annual meeting along with other duties.

More information about the section, including the recently revised Bylaws, is available on the Description Section Web site at <http://www.library.yale.edu/%7Edsmith/saa/saadescr.htm>.

If you have any ideas about someone who might be a good candidate, or if you're interested in running yourself (candidates must be both SAA members and members of the Description Section), please contact me off list at <blandis@uci.edu>.

Thanks!

Bill Landis
