Re: Access and allies



        Regarding the question about restricting access, I would have to
agree with respondents who bring up saying "no" to the donor.  While such
restrictions may or may not stand up in court (and I now am thorougly
confused about whether such records are public or private) some rejected
researcher could decide such a rejection has a gender/ethnic/racial bias
and sue you.  Or someone such as the ACLU may decide to make this a test
case.  You could consider consulting the attorneys paid by the university
to handle law suits and see what they think.  But how would you even
catalogue such materials without calling attention to the restrictions?
