Re: lady bugs as pests

Please check out the following url for links to sites
containing information about beneficial and "pest"
insects, including lady bugs.

Lady bugs, also known as ladybird beetles, have become
a serious nuisance in this area. Imported into
Wisconsin to control aphids in orchids, they have
gotten out-of-control in the absence of natural
predators. Prevailing westerly winds during the fall
relocated the bugs from agricultural areas to
residential ones.

Individually ladybugs are rather appealing and are
often considered to be harbingers of good luck.
However, the swarms of hungry lady bugs seeking
sheltered locations for the purpose of over-wintering,
was anything but cute. And they are back, inside
houses trying to get out now that's it's spring.

It's a bit like a mini-series version of The Birds.
