FW: Civil War Bullets

Is old black powder dangerous? Didn't any of you ever see "Journey to the
Center of the Earth"? When old Pat Boone and the professor found some old
powder and blew it off, it started a massive volcanic eruption...sending the
hapless explorers out into the statosphere...

Seriously, Steve, if your local historical society wants to exhibit bullets,
let them just put the lead projectiles on display. You can't be sure if the
powder within a brass casing is safe, period, so just display the bullets.
If they want to show what a bullet looks like in a paper cartridge, let them
wrap it up with some cotton wadding and cigarette paper.

(By the way, did you know that the Zig Zag man is actually a Zouave type
soldier, and that the practice of rolling cigarettes may have come from
soldiers whose pipes were broken, needed some way to inhale their tobacco,
and in desperation turned to their ammunition?)
