Iron Mountain & Iroquois Chief

Does anyone have any information regarding the Iron Mountain
steamship that vanished off the Mississippi River in the late
1800's. The Iron Mountain had departed from Vicksburg traveling
north. The Iroquois Chief nearly ran over the Iron Mountain's cargo
barges two hours later. Most reports say that the Iron Mountain
vanished without a trace, however, the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers published a report that the boat was found two months
later in a cotton field near Omega Landing - close to Tallulah,
Louisiana.

Additional information seems to indicate that the boat was
deposited not on Omega Plantation, but on Mountain Plantation -
some 20 miles north.

Thanks for any help on the above!
