ARCHIVIST, WILLIAM S. COHEN PAPERS.  The
University of Maine Library is seeking an
experienced, dynamic, service-oriented archivist
to organize, manage and promote the use of the
William S. Cohen Papers, which consist of more
than 1,000 linear feet of materials, in a variety
of formats, documenting Cohen?s career as a
congressman, senator, and Secretary of Defense.
This is a 3-year fixed-length position, with a
salary range of $35,000 to $40,000.  There is a
possibility of renewal contingent upon funding and
performance. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Arrangement, description and preservation of
papers; preparation of finding aids that can be
integrated with digital library initiatives;
outreach to the multiple constituencies for this
collection; supervision of classified staff and
student assistants; participation in fundraising
activities; and other duties as assigned.  Reports
to Head of Special Collections.  REQUIRED:
Masters Degree in Archival Science (MAS),
ALA-accredited MLS, or graduate degree in history
or related discipline.  Graduate-level coursework
or training in archival administration/theory.
Substantial archival processing experience.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written
communication skills. Appropriate background
checks will be required.   PREFERRED: Experience
processing congressional papers or other large
collections.  Graduate degree in American history,
politics, or related subject area.  Experience
with MARC, EAD, and XML. .  Supervisory and
