Reprints of Photographs

When reprinting photographs for patrons, do you put a stamp or sticker
identifying the repository or some sort of restriction to prevent further
reprints being made by the patron? I received a call today. The man wanted
an 11 X 17 color reprint. We have all of our photographs printed by a
professional photo lab and sometimes there is a long turn around time. I
told him I might not be able to get the photo within the time frame the he
needed. I told him I might be able to have it printed at Wal-Mart but they
probably wouldn't be able to print the 11 & 17 size. He suggested that I
send him a 3 X 5 print and he would get them blown up. I told him he could
not do that because he doesn't have the right to reproduce our images.

Long story short, how do other archives handle this issue?

Thanks in advance. Please reply to me at ggreen@beauvoir.org.
