Re: Hollywood film crews (warning: semi-rant!)

I can second Roy's rant.

Some years back the Hollywood film "Mississippi Burning" was filmed in the small town of LaFayette, Alabama.
The filmmakers convinced the trusting townsfolk to dismantle and remove the handicapped ramp to the courthouse so that they courthouse would look more authentic. They promised to replace it after shooting.
Also, they insisted on pouring sand on the paved downtown streets to give them a dirt road look. Again, they promised to return everything as it was before they set up shop.

Guess what? They didn't.

Be careful if you meantion that movie when passing thru LaFayette.
