CITY RECORDS MANAGER
CITY OF SEATTLE, WA

General Description:  The City of Seattle seeks a highly qualified professional to manage the newly-created City-wide Records Management Program.  The successful candidate will report to the City Clerk and work closely with the City Archivist.  The City Records Manager will develop City-wide records management policies and procedures; hire and supervise two records analysts; develop training and workshop materials, and conduct training of city staff; identify issues and work with appropriate City staff on solutions for electronic records management issues; provide technical assistance to City departments on records creation, management, and disposition; review departmental records retention schedules; oversee auditing of records management compliance by departments; serve on City-wide committees related to records issues; and work closely with the City Archivist to ensure the preservation of archival records.

Qualifications:  Required qualifications are a masters degree in history, library and/or information science, or a related field, with advanced coursework in archival and records management theory and methodology; minimum five years of full-time, progressively responsible, professional records management experience; experience surveying, classifying, and appraising records, and experience writing records retention schedules; knowledge and experience in the management of electronic records and recordkeeping systems; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; experience and/or familiarity with PC-based computer systems and software including word processing and database management systems; and ability and willingness to lift heavy containers (up to 40 pounds) on a regular basis.  Preferred qualifications include professional experience in a government records program; professional experience in an archives program; and records management certification.

Salary Range:  $53,641 - 80,451, with excellent benefits.
