Related Correspondence Collection

Hello,

I am currently processing a largish collection of a writer's papers,
including her correspondence with other people. Our department has recently
acquired from one of these other people a box worth of correspondence from
the writer to them.

Here's my question. An argument could be made for working this single box
of correspondence into the writer's largish collection since it is so
closely related, but I am concerned that this would damage the integrity of
the original collection, which is all material obtained from the writer
herself.

Is it preferable to leave the new box of correspondence as a separate
collection, and simply include a reference to it in the finding of the
writer's papers?

Thanks for any thoughts on the subject!
