Anyone out there recently involved with insuring a journal collection?
Help...I'm in the midst of moving our "closed" stack collection from a corporate location to a leased location. The company's insurance adjuster has asked that we value the collection before it is moved off-site. Our company is self-insured up to $50,000. Is there a methodology used in calculating the value. Generally the collection is composed of medical and scientific journals prior to 1990. Mostly in print format. I wouldn't say the journals are irreplaceable, but they would be difficult to replace (therefore more expensive) in event of loss.
Thanks for your help.
