You probably will not
want to disassemble the scrapbook. The items in it will certainly loose
their context if you do, and perhaps some of their informational value as
well. If the pages can be removed from the binding, each page could be
encapsulated separately and then reassembled, but it sounds like there are some
multi-page documents on the scrapbook pages so then you wouldn't be able to see
the interiors of those items. I presume from your message that unless you
do something with it, the book is too fragile to be used without damaging
it. Sounds like a professional conservator may be your only real
option.
