Re: Hilton Reservations



The hotel in Phila where MARAC met in May had a $3.00 per day energy surcharge, but they might have been waiving it for the conferece. I also attended a conference in Portland, OR, in mid-May (Kathy was there too!) where there was a $3.00 per day energy charge.

The energy tax is becoming common on the West Coast, because of the
crisis there, but I did not know it was present in DC. As for the
advanced charging of a credit card, that seems very questionable, when
one considers the finance charges one accrues, the interest one doesn't
accrue if one cannot have that money in an account, etc. Perhaps
organizations should protest this practice?
