Re: transferring 3/4" tape



Please respond to the list. I was recently informed that we have some tapes of cooking demos, etc., on 3/4 inch tapes that may eventually be discarded because our machines for reading them are gradually breaking down, and I'd like to know of good options for saving the tapes.

Hello-
Our community has a local cable tv program (mostly oral history interviews)
that has been broadcast for years. Most of the shows have been recorded on
3/4" tape. Is it a worthwhile preservation project to transfer the shows
(over 400) to CD? Is digital technology more stable and cost effective in
the long run? Or should we consider other methods to try to preserve the
broadcasts?
