Re: Student Evaluations of Instructors



 At our university these are called EVALS and are retained as a student
publication. They get occasional use, not heavy. Students who are good
consumers make use of them when selecting classes. To my knowledge there
has never been much faculty resistance to them, though they ARE used as
a part of tenure and promotion decisions. Part of the reason for this may
be that for a long time teaching took a back seat to publishing, as those
of you in the academic world well know. That has changed of course in
recent years, a major step forward in my opinion.
