drying soggy Houston flood documents in vacuum chamber?

Recently the _Houston Chronicle_ ran an article about NASA drying out documents
from the Houston flood in a vacuum chamber. It was probably posted by Peter
earlier this week.

This article is: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/storm2001/959078

My question is: how safe is this process for disaster recovery of flooded
archival material? One TV news report (online) said that the documents
were a little "crispy." That made me a little nervous.

Please reply online, and thanks!
