Re: standards of resolution

I just returned from a conference on digitization at Denver University. I believe that the Colorado Digitization Project has done some the the best work in settingstandards for scanning and related operations, including refreshing and metadata. See their standards pages at http://coloradodigital.coalliance.org/standard.html.

For scanning standards, contact the Nebraska Historical Society, Ford Preservation Center in Omaha: http://www.nebraskahistory.org/lib-arch/research/photos/digital/index.htm
Good luck.

Hi everyone,

A non-archival friend has a job working for a historical society, scanning and digitizing
photographs. Nobody at her workplace knows anything about standards for this kind of thing, and
she has asked me for help. She has been doing a little research and has been told both 400 dpi and
1200 dpi (for the tif file). Can anyone come up with something definitive?

Please reply to me personally: atieger@yahoo.com. And let me know where your info originates.

Thanks ever so much.
Aaron
