Re: metal clips

What about staples? If I had to unstaple the faculty minutes and other
reports, it would create an awful lot of opportunity for things to get mixed
up & mislaid. I've been leaving staples in place.

Subject: metal clips

>I learned the wrapping technique while at Stanford, and have since seen
this way of grouping papers preferred on this list. It avoids both the
metal ions in paper clips (whether they rust or not) and the dents produced
by any clip, both in the pages clipped and the surrounding pages. When I
encountered single pages with post-it notes, it just seemed like an easy
solution to keeping the
note with the document.

I have found metal clips rusted through four or more sheets of paper so
no longer use this wrapping technique. In addition, it adds four
thicknesses of paper per clip to the file. This can easily double or
quadruple a file's thickness, to the detriment of the papers.
