greeting cards

Good afternoon,

Generally, our archives endeavors to keep collections with greeting cards
together. In the case of weddings, birthdays, births, funerals and an
endless list of holidays, greeting cards and cards in general can give
additional information about the person who received it and the people who
sent them. When processing collections, greeting cards are usually saved in
mylar sheets or acid-free envelopes to prevent acid-migration onto letters
or other correspondence or material that might accompany them. Removing
them from the collection alters the original order, perhaps the originator
wanted to keep it as a momento of some sort.
