John Washington Ellis

Colleagues:

Does anyone know if and/or where a manuscript collection for John Washington
Ellis (1817-1910) may exist? He was born, lived and worked most of his life
in the Cincinnati region. In 1870, Ellis moved to New York City where he
was head of Winslow, Lanier & Company and subsequently president of the
Third National Bank of NYC. I have checked with both the New York
Historical Society and the NYPL as well as checking NUCMC. None list such a
collection. Under his entry in volume III of the 1959 Dictionary of
American Biography, there is a tantalizing resource listed as
"Correspondence, Letter-Books and Reminiscences of John Washington Ellis, a
manuscript collection belonging to Ralph N. Ellis of New York City." I
would be most appreciative if anyone may have any information about such a
resource. Please reply off list.

Many thanks,
Maggie
