JOB ANNOUNCEMENT CODE: 06665

LOCATION: Madison (Area 8)
HIRING ORGANIZATION: Department of Veterans Affairs, Wisconsin Veterans
Museum.
SALARY: Starting pay is $31,299 per year plus excellent benefits.
JOB DUTIES: Provides archival reference and research services to patrons
using the museum's manuscript, book, map, visual, and sound collections
relating to Wisconsin veterans, Wisconsin National Guard, and U.S. military
history. Oversees operation of archives reading room.  Develops and
implements the research center's public and outreach programs; including
instructional activities.  Develops and manages center's web pages and
specialized databases.  Supports exhibit development; researches and writes
articles and historical texts; and makes presentations.
WELL QUALIFIED APPLICANTS: Will have a college degree and coursework in
Archival Studies, Library Science, American History, or a related field.
Equivalent professional work experience will also be considered.
KNOWLEDGE  AND SKILLS REQUIRED:  American, Wisconsin, military and veterans
history. Archival reference principles, practices, and sources.  Research
techniques, strategies, and sources. Excellent listening, oral, written, and
diplomatic communication skills.  Ability to share knowledge and expertise
with a variety of audiences.  Familiarity with methods for planning and
developing museum exhibits.  Knowledge of instructional methods and webpage
development helpful.
